Setting Up Your POP Email Address in Microsoft Outlook

This tutorial shows you how to set up Microsoft Outlook to work with your e-mail account. This tutorial focuses on setting up Microsoft Outlook 2003, but these settings are similar in other versions of Outlook. You can set up previous versions of Microsoft Outlook by using the settings in this tutorial.

To Set Up Your E-mail Account in Microsoft Outlook

Tools Menu :: Then Email Accounts 1. In Microsoft Outlook, from the Tools menu E-mail Accounts
Add a new e-mail :: And Click Next 2. On the E-mail Accounts wizard window, select Add a new e-mail account, and then click Next.
Select Server Type :: POP3 3. For your server type, select POP3 and then click Next

Internet E-mail Settings :: Enter your information

4. On the Internet E-mail Settings (POP3/IMAP) window, enter your information as follows:
  1. Your Name
    Your first and last name
  2. E-mail Address
    Your email address
  3. User Name
    Your email address, again
  4. Password
    Your email account password
  5. Incoming mail server (POP3)
    mail.yourwebsite.com (net, org...)
  6. Outgoing mail server (SMTP)
    smtp or mail.yourisp.net

5. Select Test Account Settings, make sure there are no errors

6. Click More Settings

NOTE: If you have any issues SENDING email check with your ISP to make sure that you are using the correcet smtp settings. If that is working check to make sure that you have an email account with your ISP so that your account is authorized to send mail accross there network. If you are able to receive mail but are not able to send it is usually a problem with your smtp settings or your ISP. If you are unable to receive your email contact us for assistance.

Advanced Tab :: Delivery; Select all 3 check boxes, adjust the # of days

7. Go to the Advanced tab, find Delivery at the bottom and select the check box: Leave copy of messgae on server

8. Select the next 2 check boxes and adjust the number of days

9. Click OK

Click Next 10. Click Next
Click Finish 11. Click Finish
